We've almost made it to the darkest day of the year and we're looking forward to coming out on the other side. Gearing up for the holidays at OTR is lots of fun- the cookie assortment is outrageous! Just $8 for a perfect "just under a pound" pack with a sticker and a ribbon. Available now until Christmas. And, to go along with our upcoming Peace Bagel sticker (see it on the right?) we have the oversized Peace Cookie. You can check that out at the bottom of the page. We've got great music scheduled this week and hope that you are already planning ahead to New Year's Eve. Richmond really does it up for "A Celtic New Year". You can buy a button at OTR although we are not an official site. New Year's Eve at On The Rise will feature an Open Mic starting at 6:30 followed by The Andric Severance Quintet- danceable, groovy, Latin Jazz 'til midnight. To ring in the new Year, we'll drop the ball (all lit up and everything) right over the park. Join us!
Food:
There's always so much cooking at OTR. If you haven't tried our homemade
veggie burger yet, we wish you would. For the last few Mondays Zack has
taken the burger to new levels as the special sandwich. This week it was
served with black beans, melted cheddar, salsa, red onion, and greens.
If you remember "The Hibernator" brunch special from last winter
(fresh baked biscuits topped with spinach, mushrooms, caramelized onions,
two eggs over medium, and mushroom gravy) you'll be glad to know it's
back. Another biscuit special will debut this week- a vegetarian twist
on a southern classic "biscuits and gravy". As the holidays
approach keep in mind that we are happy to make your favorite OTR items
in large (or small) quantities for your family. We can supply you with
a batch of nourishing Harvest Bisque Soup or mini spinach feta pies and
mini potato smokers for appetizers. Just ask! Special orders can be placed
before close on Monday the 23rd.

Art: We are getting ready for another round of art sessions on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. If you are interested in signing up for either textiles or clay workshops send us and e-mail. We also will be hosting the monthly craft night for January on Monday the 12th.
Trevian is back. Hosting the super comfortable and fun poetry session at OTR. Come down and after dinner read, or listen.
Erik, Don and Blake local favorite bring their mix of infectious pop and rock to OTR. Favorites and covers so obscure they are almost original!
This Friday features The On the Rise Session Band. Matt and Kalav started the bluegrass sessions here at OTR. Brent, Matt, and D-Davis are regulars at our Wednesday night sessions and round out this great group. Every time these guys get together it seems like two things are guaranteed: red hot music and a positive vibe that infects the musicians and everybody in the room. This time the band has kindly insisted on playing a fundraiser to support arts and music at OTR. Come down and celebrate and keep local music live and happening in Richmond.
