Hello Friends, Many thanks for the feed back on the last e-mail. One bit of advice was not to separate the music update from the bakery news and we agree. Here it is folded back together into one OTR newsletter. The newsletter will be emailed on Monday or Tuesday of each week- our web site will be updated at the same time. Food: After the great flurry of pie baking for Thanksgiving, things begin to slow down for us with the coming of winter. This year we are preparing for a longer winter then usual due to the impending bridge closure. Clouds always have a silver lining if you look hard enough however.. |

...and the bridge closure has given us the incentive to start wholesaling our baked goods to stores and cafes around the area. We are proud of the quality and diversity of the products that we bake at OTR and are happy to see our products going out to reach a larger audience. If you are in Burlington, stop in and enjoy an OTR macaroon, muffin, or pastry with a cup of tea at Dobra Tea. You can buy bread, granola, or biscotti at Richmond's own Green Grocer and wrapped OTR pizzas at Beaudrys in Huntington. If you shop at Mountain Greens in Bristol, you can now buy OTR bagels by the half dozen, as well as granola, and biscotti at this awesome community market. Stay tuned for more places you can find OTR goodies in the weeks to come and please let us know if you think of a place you'd like to see our products. | |

| Now that its December, its time to think about special orders for the Holidays. Let us help with cakes, pies, cookies, breads, rolls, and morning treats for your guests like english muffins, tea rings, scones, cinnamon twists, and croissants. Remember, everything we bake from our rich, layered puff pastry to our gluten free lemon tarts are made from scratch using the best ingredients! Art: We enjoyed the first round of art sessions at OTR.... The bread sculpture workshop was lots of fun for all who attended (ages under 6 to over 60) and even though it was a small group, we were very productive! We will announce the new workshops and schedule for January soon, but in the mean time there is still some room left in the Gingerbread Workshop on 12/22 and 23. See our Art session brochure for details. |

Music: We host a different open session every Wednesday night at On the Rise. You can come down and listen or come to play. The Blues Jam is hosted by the House Rhythm Section: bass, drums, and guitar. The band will back you if you would like to sing a song or sit in to solo for a few numbers. If you are a bass player or drummer the band is usually happy to sit back and let you do some of the work. | ![]() |
Andrew Moroz (piano, composer, arranger) brings his Jazz Trio to On the Rise this Thursday! Andrew on Keys, James Harvey on drums, Anthony Santor on Bass. A great night of music guaranteed!

Jimmy Branca is a fantastic and talented guitar player, singer, and song writer leading a great band. In addition to the music Jim and his family and friends bring a real positive vibe to the room when they play. The band might play a couple of holiday numbers so in the kitchen we've decided this will be the unofficial OTR Holiday Party. Join Us! |

The Nerbak Bros is Dave Nerbak on guitar, Matt Nerbak on drums and vocals, and Mike Bernal holding down the bassline. They play rock and blues just the way you want it. Individually great musicians and together a rockin' trio. High energy music that will move you. Its OK to dance, we are more than just a bakery after 8:00. |

Community: This Tuesday, 12/2 is our second ever Craft Night! The first one back in October was very well attended and super fun. It's a great no cost opportunity to bring what you are currently working on and come be social with other crafters. If you don't currently have a project, there is always a collage and drawing table set up for creating tags for OTR items or doing your own thing. Join us! Also, be sure to check out the limited addition OTR "music" mugs created by Judy Bush. They are the same style as the mugs we use here with the word "music" carved on them as a reminder that OTR brings you the best in live, local music. The mugs are free with a $25 donation to Huntington Valley Arts (a local non-profit arts organization that helps us support some of the artists that perform at OTR). It's worthy of mentioning that HVA will also accept larger, tax deductible donations earmarked for OTR music and arts. We are always trying to find ways to keep the music and community events happening at OTR.The On The Rise Session Band has agreed to do an evening of Bluegrass as a fundraiser for us! This group of extraordinary musicians are not to be missed. Stay tuned for more details later in the month. |
